This 24-hour seminar covers all aspects of the childbearing years. Pregnancy massage topics covered include: the emotional and physiological changes of pregnancy, indications and contraindications of prenatal massage, how to design effective, individualized sessions for typical client needs, whether they be specific complaints or general relaxation, holistic techniques to relieve common pregnancy
discomforts and reduce stress, how to work with high risk, complicated and bed-rest pregnancies, enhancing the couple’s experience through touch, modifying techniques for pregnancy, pregnancy posture and body use, correct therapist body mechanics and proper draping techniques. Labor massage topics covered include: how to prepare clients physically and emotionally for labor, increasing the client’s awareness for easier labor, teaching labor preparation, physiological and emotional components of labor,
addressing more comfortable laboring positions, holistic methods to reduce anxiety and pain levels during labor, and massage techniques for normal and back labor. Postpartum massage topics include: rebalancing postural patterns, reducing the strain of parenting activities, improving recovery following Cesarean sections, physical and emotional adjustments of postpartum, holistic techniques to relieve postpartum recovery and the importance of pelvic and abdominal restoration. Infant massage topics include: the benefits of infant massage, baby’s senses, emotions and corresponding cues, growth and development, bonding and attachment, preparing for infant massage, techniques and specific considerations.
